3T MRI NOW OPEN at Rouse Hill Medical Imaging

Tesla (T) is the unit of measurement quantifying the strength of a magnetic field.  Most MRI machines generate a magnetic field strength of 1.5 Tesla, however new developments have allowed for this to be doubled, and at Rouse Hill Medical Imaging we have just installed a GE 3T MRI.

What are the benefits of a 3T MRI?

The magnetic field produced by using 3T yields exceptional anatomic detail.  Thus, if a picture is worth a thousand words, the 3 Tesla MRI is an encyclopedia.  The increased image clarity revealed by 3T is particularly beneficial for pathological conditions involving the brain, spine, and musculoskeletal system.

The benefits of the 3T scanner are not confined to Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  The increased spatial resolution of the 3T scanner allows for high-quality vascular imaging giving a clearing image for your diagnosis.

City 2 Surf – Team Synrad!

The City 2 Surf on again this Sunday (August 12, 2018) and we have a group of Synergy radiology employees entering the gruelling 14km course to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service!

But we are not the only ones who have emerged from their winter hibernation who will take part in this popular fun run this weekend. A whopping 85,000 people are predicted to attend!

Running has many health benefits and because of this is one of the most popular fitness activities worldwide. However, getting fit for Summer might lead to an unwanted lower limb injury if pain is ignored, which can create more harm than good to our much wanted beach bods.

The most common injuries which occur from running include: Blisters, Plantar Fasciitis, Runner’s knee (IlioTibial Band Friction Syndrome) and Shin Splints- all of which require the correct diagnosis to ensure that rehabilitation is done correctly and that time off the concrete is limited.

Australia’s War on Waste

Something as simple as our morning coffee may be damaging our beautiful Australian ecosystem.

By the end of the year an estimated 2.6 billion takeaway coffee cups will have been used, briefly, and chucked in Aussie bins. Coffee cups are the latest symbol in a national move against single-use plastics, and may just disappear from coffee shops within the next five years.

That’s if the Federal Government adopts the recommendations of a new Senate committee report that reveals the extent of Australia’s recycling and waste crisis. The report has been issued just as Australia gets used to grocery shopping without free plastic bags.

That would mean goodbye to balloons, straws, takeaway food containers that can’t be reused and plastic cutlery.  It’s one of 18 recommendations the committee made to help end Australia’s waste problem and fix an industry it described as being in ‘grave danger’.

“Waste is a fact of life; the evidence indicates that the quantity is only going to increase; yet there cannot continue to be an expectation that ‘just putting it in the bin’ will work as an adequate waste management system,” the report said. You heard it Australia. Putting rubbish in the bin is no longer good enough to deal with the country’s massive and ever-growing problem with its rubbish.

The committee want Aussies to cut down on the waste they create. It is something for every industry in Australia to think about, from large corporate companies right down to the individual.  This includes the healthcare industry and us in radiology.
